E3 has always been about summer hype in the gaming industry, and every summer they’re not alone. There’s a number of sponsored events when they’re live in California, and that hasn’t changed for 2021, despite the show going digital. We’re seeing a lot of trailers and new games for the bevy of platforms, and so far that’s mainly console. And to take care of those folks who are members of the PC master race, PC Gamer has us covered with the PC Gaming Show – one of the marquee events on the Sunday E3 schedule at 2:30 PM PST / 5:30 PM EST.
“PC gaming retains its position as the world’s most vibrant gaming platform,” says PC Gamer Global Editor-in-Chief Evan Lahti. “The PC’s library of weird, innovative, and genre-pushing games grows every week. The PC Gaming Show is about shining a bright light on as many of these new projects as we can.”
And to stack on to that delightful PC weirdness, the theme of the program will be “outer space.” The 90-minute show will feature content beamed from space, in a custom spaceship built for E3.
“We wanted to bring the visual spectacle of some of our favorite games and fiction to the E3 stage,” says Tim Clark, PC Gamer Brand Director. “We’re big fans of shows like Mystery Science Theater 3000, and this theme will let our hosts channel the fun of E3.” Coincidentally, the PC Gaming Show will feature several games set in the stars.
Partnering with Intel to bring us MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, the show will also highlight 39 new trailers and game announcements hosted by gaming personalities Sean “Day[9]” Plott, Mica Burton and Frankie Ward.
“Sean, Mica, and Frankie are amazing stewards of PC gaming. They’ve spent their careers delivering expert insight to audiences about all corners of the hobby—from esports and competitive FPSes to MMOs, card games, and independent games. They’re passionate PC gamers like us, and we couldn’t be happier to have them host this event,” said Evan Lahti, Global Editor-in-Chief.
We can expect updates and announcements from tinyBuild, Sega, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Valve/Steam, and a number of other studios with a couple of unreleased announcements as well. And of course, what’s PC gaming without the rig to play on? Following last year’s custom A Total War Saga: Troy themed build, master modder Brian “Boddaker” Carter is creating another one that E3 viewers will have a chance to win, based on MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries.
If you’re here for PC games, this is the event to stream, and you can check it out at on twitch.tv/pcgamer and youtube.com/pcgamer. And if you stick around, it’s going to run right into GamesRadar’s Future Games Show Powered by WD_BLACK at 4pm PDT / 7pm EDT, returning for its fourth iteration hosted by Troy Baker and Laura Bailey. You can check that out on Twitch, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and GamesRadar for a multi-format presentation for over 40 games from publishers and developers like Sega, Private Division, Team17 and XSEED Games.
So get comfy, get your Chromecasts ready to push these streams to the big screen, and enjoy some PC focused E3 goodness!
